Biotinylation Reagents | Labeling Tools for Bioassay

Biotinylation reagents are widely used chemical tools for labeling biomolecules with biotin, a small vitamin that binds with extraordinarily high affinity to streptavidin and avidin. These reagents typically consist of a biotin moiety linked to a reactive functional group—such as NHS esters for amines, maleimides for thiols, or click-compatible handles—allowing selective conjugation to proteins, peptides, nucleic acids, or other biomolecules. Through this modification, biotinylated targets can be easily detected, immobilized, or enriched using streptavidin-based systems, enabling a wide range of applications including affinity purification, western blotting, ELISA assays, and chemical proteomics workflows.
